Northwoods ARES / RACES coordinates Amateur Radio volunteers in Oneida and Vilas and Lincoln Counties in Northern Wisconsin. Our primary communications are provided via two meters utilizing two linked repeaters, being
the 146.940 Repeater in Rhinelander in east-central Oneida County, and the 147.120 Repeater in Willow north of Tripoli in southwest Oneida County. Both repeaters utilize the standard off-set with a PL tone of 114.8. Our primary backup repeater is the 147.195 in Minocqua, again standard offset with a PL tone of 114.8. Our primary Simplex channel in the North East Wisconsin District is WI-2 being 146.430 simplex with a PL tone of 151.4. Lincoln County utilizes the Tomahawk repeater 145.4300 - off-set with a PL of 114.8 Northwoods ARES/RACES also utilizes other area repeaters as needed depending on the event taking place.
Northwoods ARES/RACES utilizes D-Star as a Primary digital mode, work with mobile apps and DRATS is ongoing and expanding in the area. Communications in other digital modes are monitored and used as needed, including P25 and System Fusion.
The Northwoods ARES Net meets regularly each Sunday at 7PM on the 146.940 / 147.120 linked repeater system. During this net the Minocqua Repeater on 147.195 is also linked via Echolink . All Amateurs are welcome.
Northwoods ARES Meetings are generally held on the first Thursday of each month at 6:30pm. Locations vary depending upon the subject matter.
